Tour Itineraries :
The golden triangle of north India covers the three heritage destinations of Delhi Agra and Jaipur.
Delhi: The capital of India is a mixture of tradition and modernity, a historic city with stately buildings and the seat of government of a vibrant nation. A tour of Delhi's monuments and sights is a great way to get to know this fascinating country and to begin your tour of India. Marvel at the majestic Red Fort and the impressive India Gate, be enchanted by the beauty of the Lotus-shaped Bahai Temple, tour the museums to know more about India's past and browse through the markets for handicraft and textile items, made by master craftsmen.
Agra: Agra is known for the beautiful Taj Mahal, but there's a lot more to this historic city. The Mughal dynasty ruled from Agra and endowed it with many fine buildings and monuments such as Agra Fort, which contains grand halls and palaces and the tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, a precursor to the Taj Mahal. Because of Agra's location in the heart of North India, a trip to Agra can be combined with a tour of many other North Indian destinations. The tomb of Akbar is in Sikandra near Agra, the deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri and the holy city of Mathura are also nearby. Enjoy travelling back to Mughal times while exploring the attractions of Agra and its surroundings. Apart from sightseeing there are markets, which offer carved marble ware and various handcrafted artifacts, such as carpets, brassware and leather items, created by traditional craftsmen. A miniature replica of the Taj Mahal is a popular souvenir.
Jaipur: The capital of Rajasthan is around 258 km from Delhi and 232 km from Agra. The great warrior king Sawai Jai Singh II (1693-1743) laid the foundation of the city in 1627. He was one of the few kings of his time who had a scientific temper and was concerned about the welfare of his citizens. The city was well planned and had one of the best drinking water systems in the medieval world. Amer Fort, the Hawa Mahal and the royal observatory or Jantar Mantar are places worth visiting in Jaipur. The Gangaur and Teej festivals are colourfully celebrated in this city. Jaipur is also known for the fine handicraft, intricate jewellery and colourful textiles produced by skilled traditional craftsmen.
Enjoy experiencing the magic of these three historic cities on your Golden Traingle Tour of India.
